Monsters of Rock 1988 LA Coliseum Headlined by Van Halen, included acts Dokken, Metallica, Scorpions and Kingdom Come

I found this video on YouTube. I had totally forgotten about this. All day. 9 hours of rock n' roll. July 24th, 1988 at The LA Coliseum.

Hot weather, booze. ladies in 80's clothes and makeup, guys dressed in spandex. Loud music all day in the LA sun! Well, you get the idea. Enjoy!

I was there that day. Metallica barely gets through one song before the crowd of 100,000 plus starts rioting throwing chairs and gates towards the stage.

Yea, Metallica was awesome, but I think people were just too drunk and excited to contain themselves.

Anyway, the video and audio here are terrible, but I must point out that the Scorpions performance that day was brilliant as always. And Van Halen with Sammy Hagar was pretty good too. And I had a great vantage point just above field level on the side of the stadium.

add a little whiplash in front of 100,000 LA metal heads with stupid promoters who think that chairs should be on the floor and a riot almost breaks out. Chairs and barricades go a flyin!!!

An elaborate rock product with full sets from each band visiting 25 cities...

Halloween is not very far away. This means that we all need to be getting our costumes ready so that we can have something that we will be proud of on the big night. Many adults are opting for 80s costumes.

This is an era that is not going to be forgotten anytime soon. This is the time frame when Madonna became popular with her Like a Virgin music video.

Princess Diana was another popular icon from the 1980s. There are so many 80s party costumes available. It is up to you to find the one that will work the best for your costume party.

Maybe you will be going to 80s theme parties. If this is the case, you are going to want to make sure that you have something that no one else will have. This is why online shopping is so popular when it comes to costume parties.

The best thing that you can do is do a search for 80s costume ideas. You are certain to have a difficult time making the decision about what you would like to be.

You may also be interested in 80s costumes for couples. This could be a number of different things such as Mork and Mindy, the Jeffersons, or even Motley Crue if you can find another couple to dress up with you.

You are certain to make many wonderful memories as long as you are willing to use your imagination.

Do not be shy when it comes to picking a costume. You may consider some parachute pants or a pair of leg warmers. Do not forget your fluorescent colors and your bangle bracelets.

If you take your time to find the perfect costume for the evening, you will get many compliments from everyone in attendance.

There is a reason that the 80s were so popular. We all have many wonderful memories from this era.

The most important thing that you are going to need for your costume party is your camera. Everyone is going to look amazing and you do not want to miss a single thing

The clothes were fun and the hairstyles were even better. Do not forget to rat your hair as high as it will go. Extra hairspray is a necessity for the party.

OK, I am a big fan of pretty much everything about the 80's. Tonight I decided to check out "That 80's Show" on Hulu.Com. I was watching the pilot and they made a reference to "The Bay City Rollers".

I remembered being a big fan of "The Bay City Rollers" in he late 1970's when I was a "tween", even buying and still owning a 45 of "I Only Want to be with You" and skating at the local roller rink to "Saturday Night".

So, like I always do, I went to YouTube.Com and found a video for the song. Then my wife, who is from Mexico and was born in 1977 started singing the song in Spanish. I was surprised.

The song was a hit by Luis Miguel in the 1980's and, in Mexico it was a huge hit and everyone knew this song.

Sometimes I forget that the experience of young people in different countries during the 1980's was not like mine. In many places MTV came much later than it did in the USA.

The music critics hated "The Bay City Rollers", but the fans loved them. They lived the rock and roll dream. Together they endured the trial of fame and fortune and then lost it all.

What happened to "The Bay City Rollers"? Why didn't they make a huge splash in the 1980's with videos on MTV, hit singles and huge concert tours?

Tell us what you think about "The Bay City Rollers".

Wow, they even had their own show. The Bay City Rollers Show from November 18, 1978.

Whitney Houston was arguably the second most famous female pop star in the 1980s.

Her untimely death at 48 hears old is, while unfortunate, was probably not a big surprise to many.

Houston set the standard for pop-soul singers in the '80s. She was vibrant in the 1980s, sharing her passion for music and life with complete enthusiasm.

In the last two decades however, it appeared the Whitney had lost her way and no longer had anything in her life that she was as passionate about as music.

If you grew up in the 1980s like I did, then you will remember the seemingly endless hits played constantly on MTV.

Whitney Houston left behind a legacy of incredible songs and a career that influenced many female singers since.

Here are four of our favorites in tribute to Whitney Houston and her legacy in Music and Film.

In the 80s, the Brat Pack was everywhere. John Hughes films were successful in theaters and the actors were stars, in the true sense of the term.

However, the 80s didn’t last forever and some of the stars have fallen out of public view.

Ever wonder what they’re up to these days?

Here is a peak into what happened to the stars of Sixteen Candles after the 80s was through.

Sam (Played by Molly Ringwald)

Famous redhead Molly Ringwald played the main character of Sam in the classic teen flick from 1984. Her struggle to get through her sixteenth birthday (which is forgotten by her family due to her older sister’s wedding) is the main plot of the film and her painful infatuation with senior Jake Ryan was a plot point that resonated with teens at the time and today. After Ringwald’s 80s boom, a string of poor career choices occurred, most notably turning down the female leads in both Pretty Woman and Ghost, and the 90s and early 00s proved to be a slump in her career. However, Ringwald has found some more recent success with various Broadway appearances and with the television show The Secret Life of the American Teenager, which is shown on the ABC Family network.

(source)

Jake Ryan (Played by Michael Schoeffling)

Jake Ryan was the ultimate dish in the 1984 film. Michael, who played Sam’s senior infatuation, is still remembered for being the soft and sensitive jock. While he did have a few other minor successes in films like Vision Quest and Mermaids, he was never able to duplicate the success he reached in Sixteen Candles. He now lives in Pennsylvania with his wife and two children where he produces handcrafted furniture and is the owner of a woodworking shop.

(source)

Farmer Ted (Played by Anthony Michael Hall)

Anthony Michael Hall played a character simply known as “The Geek,” also referenced as “Ted” and “Farmer Ted” at different points in the film. Throughout the movie, he unsuccessfully tried to let Sam know of his love for her to level a bet he has made with his friends, which eventually leads to one of the most iconic scenes in the film where Sam loans him her panties to help him win a dozen floppy discs. Since his success in 80s teen films, Hall’s career has been a busy affair. He was in several high grossing films such as Edward Scissorhands, Six Degrees of Separation, and The Dark Knight. He's also been a hit on the small screen, joined the cast of Saturday Night Live for the 85-86 season, starred as Bill Gates in the 1999 made for TV movie The Pirates of Silicon Valley, and from 2002 to 2007, starred in the USA drama The Dead Zone, which was one of the highest rated cable shows in its time slot.

(source)

Long Duk Dong (Played by Gedde Watanabe)

Gedde Watanabe very famously played the bizarre exchange student staying at the Baker house named Long Duk Dong (The Donger). Sam is forced to take him around with her and his bastardization of the English language and notable hijinks remain ingrained in the minds of many as the comic relief in the film. Since then he continued to work steadily in television, on shows such as ER, Seinfeld, and Home Improvement, and doing voice over work for shows American Dad!, The Simpsons, Scooby Doo, and Family Guy, as well as many others. Watanabe also had small roles in features films, such as That Thing You Do!, Armageddon and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

(source)

Mike (Played by Justin Henry)

Justin Henry played Sam’s smart-alec younger brother Mike Baker, who provided us with some memorable one-liners. It’s important to note that he was the only (and one of the youngest in history) Oscar-nominated actor in the cast: in 1979, he was nominated for his role in the film Kramer vs. Kramer. Since Sixteen Candles, he had some small television roles in shows such as ER, but has mostly stepped away from the acting scene. As of 2009, Henry is a Regional Director of Sales at Veoh, an internet television company located in San Diego, California.

(source)

This article was put together by writer Maribeth Curley of T-Shirts.com, which has a great selection of vintage t-shirts from the 80s.

Greg Kihn is the inimitable Beserkley Records recording artist of the 1980’s, known for his chart-topping songs and MTV videos, "Jeopardy," and "The Breakup Song (They Don't Write 'Em Like That)."

Okay, so his last big hit might have been almost 30-years ago, but that doesn’t mean the man hasn’t been really, really busy.

Greg recently released a 3 CD box set all digital box set, 'Kihnplete'. Before breaking big with his own solo career, Joe Satriani was the Greg Kihn Band’s lead guitarist during the Post Beserkley Records era 1985 to 1987.

'Kihnplete' features numerous never-before-heard tracks featuring Joe on lead guitar, so for the Greg Kihn and Joe Satriani fan, this is a treasure trove of incredibly rare music.

Greg is also a novelist. His four novels and one book of short stories will be released on iPad and Kindle this fall. His 1997 release, HORROR SHOW, was nominated for a Bram Stoker Award and he’s talking to Hollywood Big Wigs to get it made into a movie.

And speaking of writing, movies and Hollywood, Greg has a screenplay in development for a new cable series about how the mafia ran the music industry in New York City during the early 1960's. Entitled '45 RPM,' it's described as a cross between "The Sopranos-Meets Almost Famous".

Greg Kihn is also the the #1 reigning Classic Rock morning man on KFOX FM in San Francisco and San Jose, the biggest Classic Rock Superstation west of the Mississippi, for 16-years.

Q – How different is the music business today as opposed to when you first came onto the scene?

GREG KIHN: The music business today bares no resemblance to the music business I knew back in the day. When I started there was no internet, no cell phones, no iTunes, no downloads, no CD’s, no iPods, no nothing! Dinosaurs still walked the Earth!

We didn't have a bona fide hit until our 7th album. That would never happen today. Record labels don't develop acts anymore, it's all geared for instant success, which is a shame. Back when we were making albums we considered ourselves artists, we were making art. We were allowed to grow as musicians.

I think the focus will shift back someday and rock bands will dominate the charts again. I hope it's soon, I can't take too much more idiotic pop music. I'm a born rocker I guess. Some music is designed to go against the grain.

Q – You’re most known for the hits, “Jeopardy,” and “The Break Up Song.” However, you’ve racked up a number of great songs. What is your all time favorite song to perform live and why?

GREG KIHN: My favorite song to perform live is "Little Red Book" because it's fun to sing, has a great guitar riff, and it I love the chords. Also it was written by Burt Bacharach, which makes it the only Bacharach song I do. It was originally written for the soundtrack to "What's New Pussycat?"

Q – Weird Al did a parody of “Jeopardy” called “I Lost on Jeopardy.” You did a cameo in the video. What was that experience like?

GREG KIHN: It was very flattering to be parodied by Weird Al. That means that you are famous enough to be made fun off. I'll take that any day of the week. He is a great guy and being in his video was a ball. I had fun and I also got to meet Don Pardo. To this day I still get mailbox money from Al. That endears me to him greatly.

Q – One of your former guitar players is Joe Satriani. How did this relationship come about?

GREG KIHN: I first met Joe when he was in the Squares, who played around the clubs in Berkeley a year or two after my band had graduated from that same scene.

I remember meeting Joe on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley at a clothing shop his wife Rubina worked at called Yarmo. I think our wives were friends before we were. It's hard to remember those details. I know Steve Wright had always wanted Joe in the Greg Kihn Band.

Joe was well known as a local guitar hero even then. Joe also gave guitar lessons during that period, and many high-profile Bay Area guitarists were his regular students. My son Ry was one of Joe's early students, as a matter of fact.

Ry went on to study at Berklee School of Music in Boston and graduated a Jazz Guitar Major from Cal Arts a few years later, so Joe laid down a great foundation to learn. Ry took over lead guitar in the Greg Kihn Band after Joe's replacement, Jimmy Lyon (Eddie Money's former guitarist) left the band to become a pilot.

Steve Wright (my former partner in the Greg Kihn Band) was hot to get Joe in the band and had asked him the first time right after Dave Carpender left the GKB in 1983. Joe turned us down that time, he was still loyal to his group the Squares. When the Squares broke up a few years later, we asked again and he said yes. We were happy to get him.

Q - What do you think about Satriani’s success today?

GREG KIHN: Joe? After my band? I sort of lost track to tell you the truth. (laughs).

Here's my confession - Joe was not a good fit for the Greg Kihn Band! He was just too damn good. Let's face it, we were a 3-chord rock band with blues roots closer to the Stones and Creedence than to Hendrix and Joe was a 3000-chord genius who probably felt constricted by our music. I never asked him, but it's entirely possible he thought songs like "The Breakup Song" and "Testify" were too rudimentary for him to work his considerable Mojo.

Not that it mattered. I loved watching him on stage every night and enjoyed his input in the studio. Imagine Joe playing "Road Runner" (written by Beserkley label-mate Jonathon Richman) every night. The damn thing has two chords! Two! Joe Satriani with two chords? I don't think so. You can see my dilemma. I loved Joe dearly, but the writing was on the wall early- the man was ready to launch a brilliant solo career.

Actually, I am very proud of Joe and all that he has accomplished since he left the band. I know he's having fun with Chickenfoot and since I know Sammy I can tell you right now he's working his ass off. Sammy never stops. Have you read his autobiography? “Red”? It's an eye-opener. As far as Joe Satriani is concerned, all I can always say, "I knew him when he had hair."

If you’re interested in hearing what the Greg Kihn Band sounded like with Joe Satriani on lead guitar, buy my new, three-disc, all digital anthology box set, “Kihnplete (Post Beserkley Records)”.

“Kihnplete” is a vast body of work from my post Beserkley Records era, 1985 to the present. Fans of Satriani will find eleven incredibly rare and hard-to-find studio and live tracks featuring Joe on lead guitar recorded between 1985 and 1987.

(Order “Kihnplete, Post Beserkley Records,” released through Riot Media/Records, on http://www.gregkihn.com or through iTunes - http://itunes.gregkihn.com - or Amazon.com – http://amazon.gregkihn.com).

Q – You do a lot of writing, with numerous novels and a screenplay titled, “45 RPM,” under your belt. The premise is fascinating. Talk about the storyline and the process of writing it. (What research did you do? How you got involved with the story? Etc.)

GREG KIHN: Right now I’m super busy juggling several careers. I do the morning show on KFOX radio in San Francisco and we were just bought by Entercom and we’re kicking ass in the ratings. KFOX is a classic rock station and it’s a comfortable fit for me.

I’ve been doing radio now for 15 years, 14 of it in the morning on KFOX when it was a little mom and pop station in San Jose, CA. Now we’re a two signal super station, with a huge radio audience on 2 frequencies - 98.5 in San Jose and 102.1 in San Francisco. So the radio career is going along nicely.

I'm always working on something in the writers field. 45 RPM is the one we're currently shopping in Hollywood. It's about the mafia in the music business circa 1962 in the Brill Building- NYC- during the payola scandal. It's got guns, guitars, babes, and rock and roll- how can it fail.

I'll keep you updated on this because it's just now seeing the light of day for the first time. In Hollywood you have to keep the lid on until the last minute. I've also got a rock and roll comedy in the works.

This is very exciting for me because it is my first foray into TV writing. I’ve been writing novels for years, and even some scripts based on those novels, but never for TV.

A movie project for HORROR SHOW based on my first novel is in the works with Corbin Bernsen (from LA Law fame) directing. Corbin’s so busy that it’s hard to pin him down but hopefully we’ll get into production next year. It’s about a B movie director in the 50’s who uses real dead bodies for zombies in his movie.

That reminds me, I will be recording the audio book for HORROR SHOW this Fall, so hopefully it will be available for download in the fall or winter.

Let me tell you something, Hollywood makes the music business look almost normal.

Q – When will these go to production?

GREG KIHN: No production date yet. I'll let you know.

Q – Rock and roll in the 80s was synonymous with drugs and sex. What experiences jump out at you in terms of the dark side of the music industry? Any stories you want to share?

GREG KIHN: I have more yarns than a Rastafarian hat factory, trouble is I can't tell any of them for fear of ruining lives (including my own). Suffice to say, I snorted half of Peru, drank half of Tennessee, and smoked most of Columbia... I'm clean now, and I guess I had to learn my lesson the hard way.

Man, I was whacked out of my gourd. Most of my generation had to have the sense knocked into their heads rather than read about it. I quit everything and I only have one vice left... and I ain't sayin' what that is.

There’s nothing at all the same today as when I started. After a lifetime of rock and roll, my gnarly, twisted dreams of world domination have mellowed. I just enjoy life. I am very comfortable in my own skin.

Q – What’s the single most important lesson you’ve learned in the music business?

GREG KIHN: The most important lesson I learned in the music business is keep your pants on, your nose clean, and do it because you love it, not to become famous or make money. Of all hose lessons- the first one is most important. Remember- pants on! Zipped, zipped!

Q - Are there any regrets in your life?

GREG KIHN: Regrets? I've had a few. Sinatra songs notwithstanding - I don't know if I'd do it any differently. Every mistake results in a lesson learned. I'd never have made it this far without those mistakes. Life is good. I am truly blessed to have a great career and still have my wits about me. I guess the most important thing is to still love what I do. I have a lot of careers that I juggle - musician, writer, broadcaster, producer, brain surgeon, shoe salesman... wait, somehow I got off the track, but I love 'em all.

Q - Thanks again for taking the time. Is there anything you wanted to add?

GREG KIHN: Be true to yourself. Learn from your mistakes. Also, believe in yourself. That’s the most important thing - believe in yourself. All things are possible if you believe.

Jeremy 'Jaz' Coleman, Geordie Walker, Martin Glover and Paul Ferguson formed one of the most alluring post-punk bands in 1979.

The band is considered the forefathers of American nu-punk.

Their compulsive, tribal blasts on their debut "Killing Joke" album released in 1980 and the next album "Revelations" in 1982 created a legion of rabid fans and a handful of hit singles, including 1985's 'Love Like Blood'.

The band still come up with strong albums and bassist and vocalist Martin Glover is an in-demand Producer to this day. Coleman is a modern classical composer.

While the new music is awesome, the band's songs and videos from the 1980s will always bring back wonderful memories for me and they never get old.

Here are a few of my favorite Duran Duran songs and videos from the 80s.

Duran Duran were amongst the earliest bands to work on their own remixes. Before the days of digital synthesizers and easy audio sampling they created multilayered arrangements of their singles, sometimes recording entirely different extended performances of the songs in the studio.

These "night versions" were generally available only on vinyl as B-sides to 45 rpm singles or on 12-inch club singles, until the release of the compilation Night Versions: The Essential Duran Duran in 1998. Duran Duran are a great band then and now.

The only reason why they got flack was that they realized the music videos were the "next big thing" and they were ahead of the game since there videos had very high production value and quite as entertaining as to watch as well as to hear.

A lot of bands and/or singers wanted to focus only on the music without realizing that there was a significant marketing benefit to videos. Their careers thrived because they had great music as well entertaining and expensive music videos that generated them a lot of interest, too.

Duran Duran is a pop music group. They were part of the New Wave music explosion in the early 1980s, as well as a leading band in the Second British Invasion. They are still often identified as an Eighties band despite continuous recording and evolution over the past twenty-five years.

Duran Duran began to achieve worldwide recognition in 1982. In May, they released their second album, Rio, which scored three UK top twenties with "Hungry Like the Wolf", "Save A Prayer", and the title song. A headlining tour of Australia, Japan, and the US was followed by a stint supporting Blondie during that band's final American tour.

This show was set in Hawaii so CBS television studios could re-use lots of the sets from its other hit show, Hawaii Five-O which in fact had just finished its on-air run in 1980.

A number of earlier episodes reference the imaginary Five-squad, setting this series within the exact same "world" as Hawaii Five-O.

As a result of crossovers with other programs, the series is also found to take place in the very same world as Murder, She Wrote and Simon and Simon, among others.

"Magnum P.I." was obviously a fantastic show and each episode is better than nearly every other Television series in history at least in that genre of show.

The main reason Magnum P.I. was so very good was due to the interesting depth of the characters, the storyline development and also the depth of the show on the whole.

ABC was intending to terminate the Magnum P.I. TV Program at the conclusion of the 7th season. There were a huge number of complaints from fans and ABC made a decision to renew the show for an additional season.

The "series finale" episode had been recently filmed, nevertheless, with Thomas Magnum being murdered by gangsters!

Once the subsequent season rolled around, Thomas was portrayed as being a ghost for a couple of episodes. Then it was revealed that his "death" had been a dream.

Magnum PI is a multi-layered masterwork which has a strong following.

The show was revolutionary in many ways, with Magnum and many of his close friends being veterans of the Vietnam conflict and a number of episodes didn't back away from showing Vietnam flashbacks or other harsher situations.

Even youngsters aren't safe from bullets and in many cases Magnum has instances of darkness and behaves questionably.

However, all is soon right with a lot more laughs and smiles of pleasure and ladies in sexy bikinis. Several shows make an effort to juggle themes and fall short, but this classic TV show from the 1980s hits on all cylinders, at all times.

Magnum, P.I. is regarded by many as a fantastic blend of action, humor and drama.

The show moved past the basic plot lines of the characters solving the crime of the week and confronted the difficulty Vietnam era soldiers confronted in making the readjustment to civilian living.

The fact is 'Magnum' is considered to be one of the primary shows to often examine the effect of the Vietnam Conflict on the American social psyche.

Airing on CBS from 1980 to 1988, Magnum P.I. looked initially to generally be just one more Action Series show, with all the old Hawaii Five O production facilities in Hawaii, having a good looking lead actor accomplished in comedy schtick as well as the normal pals helping him solve his case-of-the-week.

However it quickly revealed its far more dramatic plotthreads by alternating the comically-toned episodes with all those focusing on the Vietnam War background of Thomas Magnum and his buddies.

The final scene from the Season 3 two-part premiere "Did You See the Sunrise" was the real key moment that highlighted Magnum's more dark aspect.

It continued to be one of the most surprising and controversial scenes from the series' entire run.

The series also becomes stronger with each and every successive season. The poor orchestral theme song from season one has been replaced with the more recognizable, rock-driven theme.

Running gags (such as the lads chasing after Magnum) are employed moderately.

What's even better, you will find a lot fewer occasions where Magnum acknowledges the home viewers by giving the camera knowing looks, an approach that simply doesn't mesh together with the show's over-all tone.

The series picked up a diverse cross-section of supporters, as a result of it's wide-ranging overall appeal and wide range of stories.

It ranged from broad, occasionally almost slap-stick humor and farce, to deeply thoughtful drama, to edge-of-the-seat action, and far beyond.

"Magnum PI was obviously a great show and each episode is superior to almost every other Television series in history at the very least in that type of show.

The main reason Magnum P.I. was so very good was due to the depth of the character types, the story plot development and also the interesting depth of the show on the whole.

Duran Duran ended up being much more new wave than rock and roll, and much more cerebral in their song development than their contemporaries.

They were from a technical perspective solid music artists with a lead vocalist songwriter possessed of a flair for the dramatic and they dominated the MTV roost for many years.

The mid 1980's saw the band splinter into two distinct groups, Arcadia and Power Station, but neither of them experienced the outrageous success the original five-some did.

By 1983, Duran Duran was well-established as an international success and among the top rated acts from the era. Their 3rd album spawned a number of hit singles and sold in fantastic numbers. More than a quarter century later, EMI has remastered and expanded the albums.

In the year 2003, Duran Duran marked their twenty fifth anniversary with a fantastic attempt at a comeback. The band, with all 5 original members for the first time since 1985, set out on a hugely successful live concert tour in the fall that set the stage for even bigger things to come. They played small venues that mostly sold-out easily.

Even those who dislike New Wave music must give these pretty boys credit for perseverance. While other 80s music icons like A Flock of Seagulls and Missing Persons have reformed for their own money grabs by cycling through their modest collection of well-known tunes, Duran Duran avoided that living death by going into the studio and surfacing with new album's of convincing new stuff that neither succumbs to nostalgia nor mindlessly duplicates present-day styles.

Probably the most glamorous of the new romantic artists, Birmingham's Duran Duran (named after the evil scientist from the 1960s film Barbarella), looked excellent in the ambitious music videos that supported their numerous Top Ten hits. These 80s hits included 'Girls On Film' (1981), 'Hungry Like A Wolf' and 'Rio' (1982), 'The Reflex' and 'Wild Boys' (1984).

The tracks were a combination of sexually charged, up-tempo pop and beguiling ballads, which played beautifully to the hedonism of the decade. The albums merged these techniques to varying impact, with 1982's album Rio, which broke the band in the The USA in 1983, and which is among the best from the earlier Duran Duran albums.

In 1985, Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor worked on the side project Arcadia, while Andy Taylor and John Taylor indulged in the group Power Station. Right after these excursions a lot of the magic appeared to have vanished, with the exception of 1993's The Wedding Album, which yielded the smash hit 'Ordinary World'.

Not until 2003, ten years later, did the boys seem to making a genuine comeback. With the original lineup intact once again, Duran Duran introduced the Astronaut album to critical acclaim, several hit singles and a successful tour.

Now they are back again with the All You Need Is Now album. Welcome back Duran Duran and good luck.

The 80s fashions are fondly remembered for the bigger than life clothing styles. The current 80s fashion trend involves taking aspects of 80's clothing styles and integrating it into a more modern style.

The style of clothes women wore in the 80s depended largely on the type of music they listened to, whether it was glam rock, pop, or new wave, Madonna, etc..

In a decade when greed was good and excess became the norm, the fashions were largely defined by the entertainment such as television shows like Dynasty, Dallas, and Designing Women.

Neon colors, bold stripes, and decorative embellishments were often seen on many of the dresses that were worn in the 80s. Halter style gowns vied with ruffled dresses at proms, parties, and weddings.

Some of the 80s prom dresses had ruffles at the neck, shoulders, waist and hem. In the early 1980s, prom dresses worn by young ladies were very appealing and fashionable.

Women wore short hair and layers of clothing. Both sexes were looking for an identity.

Dresses and suits for men and women, respectively, were usually broad shouldered with wide lapels, along with jackets sporting the double-breasted look for men.

The era also saw the flapper look being popular and wherever one went women dressed in flappy shalwars, floral embroidery and embellishments with lots of shiny gold jewelery were a common sight.

Some of the other 80s fashion trends included the sweater over the shoulders, Izod shirts, and polo shirts. Some other 80s clothes that were big were the Members only jacket which was a must have.

The 80s fashion clothing was, like today, inspired a lot by people in popular culture.

The 80s fashion jewelry trend is back, big time. The 80s fashion silhouette was top-heavy. T-shirts, blouses, sweaters, and sweatshirts had to be, like, three sizes too big so they would hang loose and low.

Leg warmers were around well before the 80s came to be, but they had traditionally been used for function, not fashion. Professional dancers wore leg warmers to keep their lower extremities warm. Leggings that go to the ankle have a greater positive visual aesthetic than capri style that chop the leg.
